Our friends took a remarkable 4 teams down to FAW HQ at Dragon Park over the weekend, including a team made up mostly of kids.
They were competing in the FAW Trust "We wear the same shirt" mental health tournament.
I'm pleased to be able to report that 2 teams topped their respective groups and advanced to the semi finals, where both were successful meaning an all-Wrexham final.
All the players apparently had a great time and the event seems a great success.
I would like to add what I am hearing about a tremendous act of sportsmanship from Welshpool's team, where the allowed one of the DSA FC players to score a penalty, their keeper apparently diving, but ensuring he missed the ball. Amazingly this act of selflessness was to cost welshpool top place in their group on goal difference. To me this wonderful gesture underlined the true spirit of the event.
So, hearty congratulations to DSA FC, but tremendous congratulations to Welshpool who are winners for sure!
