Wrexham Local Development Plan 2 (LDP2) 2013 to 2028 - WCBC
13 April 2017

Racecourse Ground and the WCBC WREXHAM LDP2 (2013 - 2028)

I cannot at present confirm dates at which the Deposit Plan will be in the public domain, the preparation of the plan is work in progress and with imminent elections there is a risk this may also delay its release. We hope to have a clearer picture on the timelines for release in the summer after the elections.

However, I can confirm that the entire plan, not specific policies, will be subject to approval by Planning Committee, Executive Board and Full Council to authorise its release for public consultation, the document will be in the public domain at these stages though public comment can only be made after full Council when the document is published for comment.

It is true that the Inspectors recommendation to withdraw the original LDP 1 made no reference to the specific policy protecting the Racecourse but the examination had not progressed to the point where such policies were scrutinised. The withdrawal came after consideration of the plan strategy. The Inspector raised such fundamental criticisms of the plan and strategy that nothing contained within LDP 1 can be relied upon for inclusion in LDP2, starting afresh the plan will be very different from the original plan.

This does not mean everything from the plan will be discarded, we are aware of the pressure for a protective Racecourse policy and in due course the need for such a policy will be considered for inclusion.

Kind Regards
