I'm not expecting much for £12 but part of the issue here is a lack of perceived benefit for your money so it feels a bit like a fan tax.

I'll pay it but the only real benefit I get is to feel as though I'd making a financial contribution (albeit small) as an exile, and to say 'I'm a part owner of a fan owned football club.'

The membership card for the 2016/17 sits in my wallet but it really serves no purpose and never has done. That has to change to encourage more owners and there's some great ideas on this thread not least from Alan Attack.

As an exile I'd also like to see the card have say a 10% discount (or free P&P) for the online shop. That would encourage me to spend more ££££s with the club.

Membership has to be used to drive more commercial activity via loyalty card style benefits.
