Not sure why this is continually ignored and people still say "he struggled in the transfer market" as if he had a FGR budget. Doesn't take a Sherlock to work it out. You don't all believe he really wanted the likes of N'Tame, surely?

He had as dramatic a wage bill cut as you can imagine, but then he did spend a fair old whack on Brett Ormerod and Andy Bishop’s wages. And allowed Kevin Thornton to take the mickey out of him for two years. And sign Junior N’Tame because he was waiting around for a past his best Dave Artell. He had some terrible luck too though. You can probably make a case for saying he should have been allowed to put it right after one bad season, but the “no ambition” crew would have caused merry hell.
