Ok folks,
I've put together a team, the DSA All Stars, to take on Bellevue FC for the Wrexham Community Cup this Sunday.
The aim of the game is to promote Wrexham as an inclusive town.
Bellevue were set up as a specifically multi-ethnic side, whilst the All Stars stand for Accessibility, Diversity and Social Inclusion.
The event has gained the backing of Football V Homophobia, Show Racism The Red Card Cymru and Level Playing Field.
LPF are sending a board member to watch and a staff member to play. FVH nad FVH Cymru are sending their top brass to watch. SRTRC have sent us promotional merchandise. Ian Lucas will also attend.
All Stars management team will feature Evrah Rose and Arfon Jones.
Top names in the All stars side will be ex-Wales Captain Andy Melville, Gaz Owen and Bryn Law, plus hopefully one or two more latecomers. The side will also be mixed gender with 2 Ladies named in the squad. We will wear a brand new rainbow kit, specifically designed for the game and paid for by NWP Enfys LGBT+ group. The first such kit for any UK police force.
An independent film maker is also attending to document the event.
Everybody is welcome, there is no charge to attend.
After the game we will adjourn to Ty Pawb for Trophy Presentation and a recital from Evrah. I'm hoping we will also be holding a raffle which will undoubtedly feature some signed Wrexham shirts!
