I was thinking about this the other day whilst in work.
A slightly different approach. If next season we are no longer able to play against the Youth teams of Professional teams, would it not make more sense to enter the Welsh Academy system until we get back into the Football League.
Currently as Wrexham aren't an FAW accredited academy, any Junior player wanting to register for Wrexham can only play for Wrexham. So theoretically a Junior player playing for Coedpoeth would have to give up his registration with them to register for Wrexham. This is due to FAW rule 59 which basically says a player can only register for one club at a time.
However due to an exception in Rule 62 a player can register for a Junior club alongside an FAW Academy. Therefore if for example though Cefn Druids wanted to sign the same player he would be able to retain his Junior registration with Coedpoeth and play with his friends, whilst also playing Academy football for Cefn Druids on an Academy registration. If Wrexham had FAW Academy status, maybe we could develop some of the better players in the area who otherwise may have gone to Airbus, Connahs Quay, TNS etc...
On top of this if we also entered a team in the Welsh Premier Development League, anyone signed for us on a Youth registration to play in that competition, would also be able to be registered as an Adult elsewhere simultaneously. So theoretically a player could play first team football for a Welsh Premier or Cymru Alliance team whilst also playing for our Youth team. You are also allowed three overage players in the WPDL.
Our First team playing in the English system would have no baring on this, as Merthyr and Colwyn Bay have Youth and/or Academy teams in the Welsh system.
Of course though this is hypothetical, and is only a proposal if we're no longer able to play against the Youth teams of Professional teams.
