Default Re: What Style does it take to get Promoted ?

Quality players that can make a difference will determine where we end up.
Versatility, the ability to vary the style of play home and away comes with certain types of players who have character and leadership.
Far too much emphasis and responsibility is heaped on the shoulders of Pearson.
Defence and keeper positions largely sorted.
Right back still required - whether this turns out to be Barnum - Bobb we will have to see.

Lack of creativity and leadership in the middle of the field hasn't changed over a number of seasons - we need a tiger in there and I still don't think it has been addressed - someone like Perkins or Harris from Tranmere's team of last season.

Then there is the need to have not one but TWO regular goalscorers to share the load - and enough strength on the bench to enable us to bring on substitutions to make that vital difference in the closing stages of a game. We need 16 players who can do the business - and not looking at the bench thinking there's nothing there that can change a game.

Gradually we should then build on the squad bit by bit - unfortunately there has been far too much disruption at management level and the playing squad in the last year or so - whilst Fylde and Solihull are building.

Having a good defence only gets you so far - ultimately goals are what the game is about - I feel defence has been treated as an unbalance priority over the ability to attack and fear it is ingrained in the squad mentality - we need to get out there and ramp up the goals for column - hopefully the entertainment factor will then also creep up because it has been mind numbingly boring in recent times.
