Yes partly. Strikers who don’t work hard (Boden, Fondop, Hooper ) are not going to work in the system. 442 with a hard working foil would be much better for them. Not surprising that it worked with the intelligent and hard working Beavon, but he couldn’t last more than an hour in the system. Personally I would have used the whole of pre season to develop a 442 with one of the midfield four being a wide player. Hooper and Harris playing closer together up front would be more productive and the four across the middle would not be outnumbered as they are now.
