I certainly do think about how much money used to flow into the game. Thirty years ago, it was probably 10% of what goes into it today, but at least it was spread fairly equally throughout the top four tiers.
The premier league was established to concentrate the bulk of the tv and pools money within the top twenty two clubs. It was basically two fingers to the small town clubs - “I’m alright Jack !” The big glamour clubs have always been massive with their big grounds, attendances and income streams, but the Premier League forming was a right kick in the nuts. Not surprisingly, I don’t possess a Satellite dish !
