Re: Lee Trundle
I recall a League Cup home tie v Everton - there were rumours around the time that Everton were interested in signing him.
We went 0 - 1 down in the first half to a Kevin Campbell strike at the Tech End.
Second half we pressed Everton very hard for an equaliser - the closest we came was a thunderbolt of a shot from about 30 yards by Trundle that hit the bar - if only that had gone in.
Alas the game will be remembered for something entirely different - Wayne Rooney came on as a very late sub and scored his first ever two goals, the game finished 0 - 3.
Trundle had magic feet and close control - still say his overhead kick after controlling the ball on his chest with back to goal at Walsall would take some beating - mainly because I was right behind the net in the away stand at the Bescott (the game we were 2 - 0 down and came back to win 2 - 3).
