In the 80s we had mass unemployment in the area under Thatcher, starting with the closing of the steelworks, money was very tight and those in work had low paying jobs, for a family supporter food on the table and paying the bills came first.
That along with terrible football after the success of the late 70s was bound to hit the support.
The problem we have today is even though the attendances are very good for non league, kids growing up today have never seen us in the football league and lots have jumped on the scouse Liverpool bandwagon, getting them to watch won't be easy.
We will be very lucky to get attendances regularly like in the 70s.
But if these potential new buyers are as superb rich as rumoured and are serious about taking us forward who knows?
One thing is certain if this bid is a failure then I fear that the club might not last the full season before dying.
