I am very suspicious of the top flight within the Premier League. Weren’t these the guys in 1991/92 who negotiated a better deal for the chosen few and stuff the rest - up until then tv money was split 92 ways.
There must be a hidden plan by footballs elite, if they feel the need to give us financial sweeteners after 28 years of us facing financial misery. The worry was always that the “top six” at the “top table” could split from domestic football and help form a European super league. Perhaps this is the ultimate aim.
If they did leave us, it wouldn’t surprise me. They are out for themselves and stuff grass roots football. Sky would stop filming the domestic game, their money would not splash around the championship and leagues 1 and 2. No great surprise there then!
