Wrexham AFC are proud to be supporting Young Carers Action Day, and will donate all money raised from tonight's live stream against Eastleigh to young carers.

All money raised will be given to the three regional Young Carers organisations, WCD Young Carers, NEWCIS and Action for Children.

We are also proud to have been asked to celebrate the launch of the new North Wales Young Carers ID card during tonight's match.

For half-time, the Wrexham AFC players have put together a video to launch the card, designed to give recognition to our community's young carers.

Young Carers have asked for an ID card, so teachers, health professionals and retailers know the important responsibilities they carry.

While there will be a phased national roll-out of the ID card, in North Wales the ID card is being launched in partnership on Young Carers Action Day.

Wrexham AFC's Disability Liaison Officer, Kerry Evans, said: "Our club is dedicated to raising awareness of the outstanding work young carers do in our community.

"These children are outstanding, and deserve recognition. The more awareness that can be raised, the better, and we are proud to be dedicating our match today against Eastleigh to celebrating Young Carers Action Day."

Speaking about the ID card, Kate Cubbage of Carers Trust Wales said: "Young carers across Wales have long called for an ID Card to help them get the recognition they deserve and the support they need.

"The card and supporting resources for professionals will help to empower young carers to speak openly with health, social care and education professionals about their needs."

Wrexham AFC manager Dean Keates met young carers from our community in a virtual event too, along with several first-team players and DLO Kerry Evans.

Following the meeting, Dean also approached Kerry to donate £100 to enable ten young carers to watch tonight's live stream free of charge.

Match passes for tonight's game are available to buy now at https://page.inplayer.com/wrexhamafc/ - purchase your stream pass now, and help to support our community's unsung heroes.
