Default Chester City Football Club (multi-merge goodness VI)

hey guys, just thought i'd post some links, describing events today..

BBC Sport - Football - Chester-Eastbourne game abandoned

Chester City Football Club: The Death Rattle (Part 5)

http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/2662576 - well worth a listen, with the radio link you can hear all about what happened live with a reporter at the game, speaking before half time, during half time - talking about the situation at the club, and then again in the second half before and after the protest and at full time

and i was there too and can say it was incredible, half way through the first half 20 or so fans calmly walked right on to the pitch, and unveiled some banners, one reading: " adolf hitler, pol pot and stephen vaughan " this was a proper protest and the rest of the fans went with it singing vaughan out

second half SVJ did not return to his seat and after chester went 3 - 2 up the fans attempted to get on the pitch again, by now there were 20 or so police, riot vans and police dogs too, despite the ott police present the police chief decided the game could not go on and the referee called it off citing a risk to the players, cheshire police making a mess of things again

but anyhow, today is a good day for us, we're really pleased with what happened, because of our actions the game was abandoned and when we were winning - the media are very interested and other fans are taking notice, finally we have made a statement - vaughan out !

from nonleaguefootballlive.com:

Quote:
The first half was interupted by an invasion on the pitch as Chester City fans vented their anger at the running of the club by chairman Stephen Vaughan.

A group of Chester City fans forced themselves into the ground, draped with flags, the group took their place on one side of the ground shortly before the invasion took place.

Amazingly Non League Football Live had a reporter at the ground covering all the drama which is recorded in a podcast for viewers to listen to.

It was the second half that created amazing scenes as Chester City supporters invaded the pitch for a second time after scoring their third goal which took them into a 3-2 lead against Eastbourne Borough.

The Eastbourne Borough management decided to take their team off the pitch as fans created a tense atmosphere in demonstration of the Vaughan regime.

Clearly evident on our podcast recording, fans made plenty of noise and with a mass invasion on the pitch

Well done. And I mean that. But why when you were winning?

I think the result stands because it was on the 75th minute when it happened.

the protest was planned but it was actually a good thing that we were winning, because it's a more interesting story and big news, and yeah, we don't need the points anyway - not sure all our players see it like that but i am sure most will understand

If they were 3-0 down it would be dismissed by the ignorant masses as sour grapes etc rather than a proper protest. Never thought I'd say it but well done Chester fans for fighting for your club

Right idea, but far too late. I'm not sure they will survive past Monday. Shame the rest of the Jester fans didn't join the 20 on the pitch as that was possibly the last time they will be able to protest at a game as Chester City FC.

The "Pol Pot, Adolf and SV flag" was a crap idea tho, very shallow! I wouldn't be too proud to see that at my club,
