The final paragraph:

'After years of supporters' loyalty being taken for granted, the end for the Chester regime arrived because the fans finally became mad as hell, and then decided they were not going to take it any more'

sounds very closeto our situation...

agreed, excellent as always from david conn, one of the very few football writers worth reading and who very much has the love of the game at all levels at heart (although he's a man city fan he's one of the few people who seem to appreciate the game outside the premiership, and he did a lot to publicise our plight in the Guterman/Hamilton era).

good to see such a thorough well written article like this about chester in a national paper in these days of dumbed down media.

That's what you get with reporting for the masses. You ask any Premiership fan about Chester City and they won't have clue what happened. Football focus had a montage at the end of their show last Saturday which made my Jester mate quite emotional.

If you ask many of the idiots that appear on Jimmy Hill's Sunday Supplement on Sky about Chester and most won't know the true ins and outs. Most will use generic guff about struggling lower league clubs.

I heard on north west news this morning that the name will be Chester Football Club.

The names in the running were:

City of Jester
Jester Football Club
Jester Rovers (based on original name of club).

I'm not really a fan of all three. The first sounds like an athletics club, the second and third sound a bit primative. Being a City, they should look to preserve their City status in their name.

it's the right name, definitely, because the vote went to the public, over 1000 people voted from in over 20 countries and chester fc was the clear winner with 70% of the vote ( 887 votes )

i did like the city of chester name but a lot of people were worried about how it would be abbreviated, strictly speaking it would be CCFC - but i'm not sure most other fans would spell it that way.. lol
