I don't really see it as that surprising. I was expecting that Keates would see Kelly in the middle was a short term move which worked in one game. He's been so resistant to Kelly playing in the middle so far.
However if Wright is fit there's no reason for Carrington to start; as the Carrington/Wedgbury midfield has proved to ineffective on so many occasions.
