As long as the structure is safe leave it there possibly utilizing it for advertising etc. If it were demolished and flattened we may find that some dodgy developer would put a bid in for it and the dopey council planners would approve a scheme for yet more flats.
Couldn't happen? Ten years ago i've have said that but history doesn't lie ![]()

I say we leave it as it is. By the time we get around to funding a new stand, they'll have introduced Standing back into the game.
There we go we're ahead of everyone already ![]()

The salient points taken from this thread are nowt will be done until there is funding and basically the football club no longer own the club.
I'm not really a fan of keeping it there just to see what happens. The old girl is well past her sell by date. If anything was going to be done, it would have been with the prospect of a full house against Newcastle if we'd got past Brighton so it's unlikely any safety certificates will be be obtained. It would nice to see an artists impression or a photo montage of the stand removed and either an Oxford wall or temporary stand in its place. Presumably, the demolition of the Kop would also release a lot of car parking space in the interim period before the 2nd phase begins (if it ever will). I know for a fact Newi struggle for parking of a term day. I believe the future is Newi purchasing the flats development and the development land from Toss and Robber. However, with increased tuition fees, University uptake is on a downward curve. |

Good point. Uni should be able to purchase the land at a reduced price by being able to take over responsibility for the unilateral undertaking. Would unfortunately save M & R around £2 mil. but may be a price worth paying to enable the Uni to redevelop the Kop end to their and our best advantage. |

I think the boxes in the Mold Road end would make for good tutorial rooms but there's not really the capacity for large lecture halls etc like the William Aston Hall or the large halls in the library. When designing new stands, it's going to take some good designs for the interior to have multi-use but that should be the skill of the architect. |

After watching the Champions league semi-final last night it just brought home the reality of why a lot of teams in the UK struggle to reach their potential.
Bayern moved from a former ground to the Olympicstad and played there for a lot of years (I watched few games in the 90's when I worked over there) yet they now have a NEW 69,000 seater stadium that provides them all the benefits of the income on match days, parking etc (just like Brighton are doing in their new stadium). Yet in the UK we contimue to struggle with derelict stadia with no facilities or grounds owned by 3rd parties and they make all the money. For Wrexham FC to progress we need our own ground - sorry to those people who are rooted in the theory of the history of the racecourse but history doesn't pay the bills its ALL about MONEY in this day and age and time to move on. Opens trapdoor to fallout shelter and takes with him 1 months beer supplies until the heat dies down ![]() |
