Default Morecambe 6-3 WSFC

Mixed feelings with the game today................

We did all we could, given the squad we had available, and no-one really gave less than 100%, but I cant help feeling, that if the 3 or 4 missing players, were actually available, then we would have been pretty close come the final whistle.

Thats all ifs & buts obviously, and we'll never really know for sure, but I can't be too disapointred in the efforts yesterday from the team.

At the end of the day, we were beaten by a better / more organised / more experienced side.

I think the 6-3 scoreline flatters Morecambe a little.
Of those, they scored one from a defensive mix up, which left the keeper isolated, one was an unlucky own goal, and the fianl goal, was a 30yd rasper, that Aaron had no chance with !!

The lads did what I asked of them, which was to take the game too Morecambe, and make them work for everything they got off us. All things considered, I think that was the case.

Having said all of the above........ if we'd had Liam* Luke, Al, and Scouse to choose from, I think we may have been an even tougher team to beat.
(To be fair to Alan though, he's made it quite clear, that away games can be a problem for him, and we fully understand and accept that)

*Also, it looks like Liam has played his last game for WSFC. (Its a real shame, because he would have made a HUGE difference for us, in the goal scoring stakes, but he's made his decision, and we have to respect that)

On the plus side..... We had goals from Curly, Craig Lovell & Bubble (Nice to see the strikers all scoring in the opening 2 games).......Andy (C) was as solid as ever at the heart of the defence, and Dave Parry, grabbed another (Fully deserved) MoM award. And Doughty got another 90 mins under his belt.

Sam was (for me) the highlight of the subs, coming on late in the first half. He settled down after about 15 mins of the 2nd, and did quite well from there on in. He only needs to work on his positional awareness, and he'll be as able at left back, as anyone else we have.

A big pat on the back MUST go to each and every player, who made the trip to Morecambe yesterday though. I left my house at 9am yesterday morning to start picking lads up, and by the time I got back from dropping the mini-bus off, it'd gone 7pm..... so " Thanks very much " to each and everyone of you, for giving a full day up, just to play football for WSFC (Thank god the longest away day, is out of the way nice and early!!)

Player Ratings:-

Aaron - 6
Jamie - 6
Ben - 6
Andy - 7
Stu - 6
Lovell - 6
Dave - 7
Mason - 6
Jordan - 6
Doughty - 6
Curly - 6

Subs:-

Sam - 6
Perkins - 6
Bubble - 6

A really fine effort I thought.

So many if's and but's and like Daz said, 6-3 was a bit flattering.

Start of the second half (when we were 3-2 down) we really had them on the ropes. We had enough chances in this period. If we took one of them, who knows.

Before the game we were told to make Morecambe feel like we had given them a run for their money, which I think they did.

Take away one stupid goal (their corner where one person took it but didnt actually take it) or the own goal, and its a different game all together.

They really used the size of the pitch to their advantage, and pretty much used every trick in the book. It was a damn hard game of football, and they pulled us all over the park.

Gutted really to be honest.

Azza-6

Jay-7

Alf 7 Kept going until the end, fair play

Ben-6 Had a decent spell at left wing, and delivered some good crosses before dropping off.

Parry-7 Really unlucky with the own goal. Head seemed to drop after that.

Mason-6 Some nice passes. They really seemed to overun us in midfield, and I think Mase took a bit of a kicking in there

Jord-7 some nice touches and offered plenty down the right. Nice assist for our second

Doughty-6

Curly-6 Hard job playing up top on his own but worked well

Of the subs, I agree, Sam did really well. Composed on the ball and combined with Big Ben to create plenty.

Big well done to Daz for driving the bus down to Morecambe. It really is a LONG way. Made longer by the absense of alcohol

That traffic was a swine also.

Shame we aint got a game for weeks. I think the lads just wanna get back into it and make amends. Ah well eh. Roll on Accy

I've tried to re-arrange the away games to Chester or Nrthwhich next weekend (21st) but Jester are playing Slops, in L2, so thats a no-go..... Northwhich have re-arranged against Morecambe, so thats a non-starter too.

Everyone else is playing, so I might well, go an watch the Northwhich v Morecambe game, to do a bit of scouting..... plus to see what Morecambe are like on a long away day!! (and how we fared against them, in comparison to other teams!!)

Anyone else from WSFC fancy coming?

Of course I am !!

I might be a gobby prick, on the line (I've never denied that) and many will say off the field too , but underneath it all, I have a massive amount of admiration, for anyone who is prepared to go all the way up to Morecambe, just to play for WSFC, and have to listen to me spouting bollocks for 90 mins .

Sometimes, I really dont know how / why, you all put up with me?

I always say things in the heat of the moment. Some of which I will stand by, after the event, some of which I wish I had kept to myself. I'm afraid thast just the way I am..... its too late to change that side of my persona.
(On this occasion though - I STILL satnd by my half time pep-talk - sometimes, things need saying.)

The biggest problem, with our current squad, is that at times, we tend to feel a little sorry for oursleves, and leave responsibility to others.... instead of all 11 on the pitch grabbing the game by the balls, and shaking a result out of the opposition.

On the plus point..... we'll play at a lesser standard than yesterday, in future games this season, but still win games! but thats football eh?

Bit of a love in here aint it.

Darren Barker-Schizophrenic

Totally different fella in the pub than the maniac on the sidelines.

I would say that half time pep talk did work, because start of second half we battered them.

And REF, where the hell were you, the guy at Morecambe was a first class idiot. Everything he said to us at the start (his ground rules) were bollocks, because he didnt adhere to them.

Fair play though, last game you reffed you even got a complement from Rhyl!
