Koumas latest to 'retire'
Jason Koumas is the latest Wales player to retire from international football at the ripe old age of 29!
Anybody have an accurate figure of how many players have retired during Toshack's era to date?!

Koumas quits
BBC SPORT | Football | Welsh | Koumas announces Wales retirement
Hardly a surprise. His heart never seemed in it, and probably wouldn't be guaranteed a starting place now we've got Ramsey, Collison et al. He's always come across as a bit of a waster, with plenty of talent but little application. If he doesn't want to play any more, fine. I'd always prefer someone with less talent but more desire to wear the shirt.

Re: Koumas latest to 'retire'
Had all the ability in the world, but wasn't arsed most of the time. Let's just hope the likes of Ramsey, Allen, Ledley & Collison aren't the same.
Toshack is taking the team nowhere. He's a dinosaur.

Time for Flynn to move up to the full national side and Toshack to enjoy his retirement...

Re: Koumas latest to 'retire'
I expect this has everything to do with the article in the Wales on Sunday. Basically Koumas was told the Welsh team doctors wanted him to have a medical so they could guage the extent of his "injury" prior to the Russia game. In other words, he's retired rather than let himself be found out!

Re: Koumas latest to 'retire'
koumas to me epitimises everything that is wrong with football, he has loads of talent but no application. Thousands of players out there with effort and determination never make it because they haven't got enough ability, ironically I can only remember one decent game that Koumas had for us when he destroyed the mighty lichtenstein in a friendly.
I very much doubt that Jason will ever reflect back on his career and think that he sold himself short in his application mainly due to ego and denial.

Re: Koumas latest to 'retire'
Good riddance, why use this yet again as an excuse to bash Toshack? I for one am fed up with these mercenaries who don't give a sh1t about there country & want to select when & where to play we have had far too many of them lately, Danny Collins, Ben Thatcher, Koumas, f*ck em 'all, - all Toshack is guilty of is standing up to them, they would walk all over Flynn, he is far too weak.

Re: Koumas latest to 'retire'
This is modern day football, it would be nice to have a team of 11 talented guys with no egos but that just isnt going to happen. The likes of wales just dont have the talent to be able to leave out big ego premeirship players. Its part of the skill of a modern day maanger to deal with these types of players and I wonder if toshack is a bit too old school. With the current crop of welsh talent coming through I fear that tosh may let his own ego mess things up. To me flynn isa the man to take this welsh team forward.

Koumas. Never liked him since the game with Tranmere at home early 2002 1-1. He was goading fans in the MRS throughout the game. Good riddance I say!!

How can anyone stick up for Tosh? he plays 4-5-1 at home against azerbaijan and liechenstien ffs, and i'm not sticking up for Danny Collins, Thatcher and Koumas because they werent commited and are pricks, but what about all the others that have retired under this clown, there must have been about 20 retirements by now?!
