Just one question, You state the turf balcony, do you mean the the turf on the football ground? which was well away from the racecourse,

Pic 6 : turf balcony is to the left. If you notice the small white fence to the right - its been talked about before, that we think beyond that to the right is both the cricket and football pitch.

The bit where the horses are running is the old mold road paddock.

Yes RR. as the attached 1874 map, which at that time showed the course tight against The Turf. I could be wrong, but from a similar view from the stand in 1914 photo's, we also see a similar background. I cannot think of any other structure on the course at that time which would offer such a view.

I know it's a technicality but I would call it the finishing line/post with the unearthing of your new pictures. Of course it could be both start and finish line but generally horse racing doesn't usually start where it finishes.

Ah. Sorry Jonesfach, I had quickly adapted an old map to show RR where I thought the photo was taken from, and believed that I had saved it after adding finishing post, but must have added start post. I had meant to highlight the finishing post opposite the Turf.
The start line in both photo's seems to me to be further down towards Crispin Lane past the flats- that kind of direction. In time, I should be able to find out what the buildings and barn are in the background.

Shame we can't see the tents on some of the other photos to tie them in with relation the the turf. It looks to me that in the first pic there are some people on the racetrack(old mold road paddock) before or after a race?? They are definately standing in between 2 sets of fences...

The other thing to note, unless you already have done is that the meeting in in September. Obviously after the cricket season? And before football season to prevent damage?
