You could make the argument that a small tinker last pre-season would have been better but this seasons squad is the worst Wrexham team in its history.

I'd have kept the spine of the team yes but the rot set in when Mills (or the Board) failed to make the most of Wilkins squad in that preseason.

IMO we made a serious error of judgement releasing Manny Smith and the sequence of events that followed should have had alarm bells ringing with the board. Unfortunately DB and BH both had their minds on their exit strategy and basically left Mills to his own devices and complacency set up.

It has been a very costly lesson but one if now managed correctly could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

DK should be able to put the core basis of a squad together given the savings from this season, next seasons budget and BTB. It may not be a promotion team and its likely that it will need a mini-refresh in the January window but we should be up there close to the play-offs if he gets the key positions right.

Its going to be an interesting few months coming up.

Smith wasn't released, he walked and who can blame him.

I suspect he and a few others realised Mills was incompetent and wanted nothing to do with him.

Personally, I hope Manny puts in a transfer request and comes home to Wrexham. He is a very good CB. Just needs a physical brute next to him.

Todat will tell you he was the fittest player at the club by mile.

Would be a good move for both him and TNS.

My recollection is Smith was released and was snapped up by Heed and then Fyfield walked - so to speak.
