Mills showed his ineptitude as a manager by making him club captain when it is clearly not for him - he is far too quiet and cannot command the respect of his peers - leastways not when it comes to ability. I believe Mills decision was a cynical ploy to win over the supporters rather than something that was good either for the club or the lad involved.

I genuinely wish him all the best but its time to go and has been for two seasons.
Wasn't it Keates who made him captain?

I feel for Robbie a bit. He is part of a long line of young players coming into bad teams, latterly the Mills circus, he has carried an injury and the idea that he never showed any improvement in three years is unfair as he showed last season that there is value in him as a box to box player. However he has played over 100 times now and has had more opportunity than most youth products lately to make a compelling case, and he hasn't done it. It's time to let someone else have a go, and as long as Barry goes with him then we can be sure that there's a serious attempt at an upgrade going on.

The problem with Evans is that he has learned absolutely nothing even after playing with Keates, Harris, Fowler and the others.

He cannot base his game simply on chasing shadows around the pitch and trying to close down. Even at this level he has a poor touch, not much vision and very rarely gets involved in some decent passing moves. He tries 100mph football with very little thought.

His commitment and passion on the field and off for the club cannot be doubted but football is about ability and sadly this is lacking.

oops - I'm old and I smell of wee. Doesn't change my opinion that Mills is a crap manager and Robbie is nether a captain nor a midfielder at this level.

Yes Keates made him Captain Newton was captain under Mills.

But the obsession with Mills being to blame for everything is giving Dean a free ride at the moment.

Agreed. Let's hang Keates for steering us clear of the drop and saving money ahead of next season.
