Don't think his influence post-Wilkin can be understated, frankly. People might suggest that players were playing for contracts but that doesn't suddenly make them an organised unit. The man knows how to coach, prepare, and drill a team to get results and if we can get that defensively and have the talent offensively then we'd do extremely well next season.

This move would have been ideal when Keates came in so hopefully it'll finally come to fruition. Huge statement of intent if we can make it happen.

Be great to have him back here. Seems highly regarded though so maybe he has offers higher up the pyramid ?

I think if Carl Darlington was announced as a new coach it would be coincidental, im fairly sure the announcement for may was Nine Acre Training field, but some big mouth councilor blabbed early

It's hardly an announcement to be joyful of though is it!

So on.....

Boss Dean Keates admits someone could be joining coaching staff at #WxmAFC but refuses to confirm its Carl Darlington after leaving TNS.

Football is always evolving, so you need to be on the ball, not just with coaching methods, but analytics and sports science for example.

I think Darlington will go higher up the pyrimid than us.

My understanding is that he is one of the most highly qualified coaches in wales...yet seemingly flies far under the radar. When Wilkin was here Darlington was brought in by the club (i dont think Wilkin was consulted on this) to try and change our style of training and work on proper coaching rather than gary mills v1 spending entire training sessions using the rope ladder and centre spot explosion technique. When wilkin was removed darlington seemingly headed up the team that moved us from just above relegation to a half respectable end of season position.

Gary mills v2 then decided to treat carl like a piece of dirt, if im not wrong, sacking him by text message. Really shoddy treatment at the hands of mills however the club board could have stepped in to ensure this was handled more professionally. They werent blameless in all this despite what i think some would lead us to believe...

I think it would be a decent addition if part time...more would be a waste of time while we have an assistant manager but id prefer to see darlington in as assistant personally. I wouldnt sacrifice player funds to get him because as good as he is, i think keates should be expected to know how to do alot of what darlington does...

Best reason for him coming (if he does) is that it will end the weekly 'if only we had Darlington' posts
