Keates sees him every day and has to be trusted but he "didn't show anything"? Christ - the fact that our fans keep doing this is why it keeps being a no brainer for one manager after another to keep binning young players who don't have a club from the top divisions after them. We need to change. And that's without dealing with the myth of the Conference being one of the toughest leagues in football - it's tougher higher up and when we were up there we offered more opportunities than this.

Apart from enthusiasm coming on from the bench, he didn't really look ready. We have made bad calls in previous years offering youngsters with potential contracts, only for them to be farmed out on loan to League of Wales teams, before moving on permanently. A massive waste of resources.

They were all done in March, I think they've taken 4 or 5 16's

Look alright but was nothing special. All for giving youth a chance if they show good promise (Leo and Marx) but Harry didn't really show much. Hope he does well, but don't see much in this really.

Apparently scored his only goal in the 3-1 defeat to torquay...actually a 1-1 draw but it's rob griffiths in the post so no surprises there

I'm all for playing and progressing youngsters, I'm also all for offering Leo Smith and Ollie Marx a contract unfortunately for Harry he hasn't shown the same 'glimpses' of anything like the other 2 have, Marx and Smith have both done very well on occasions and also shown occasions where they look out of their depth which you don't mind as long as they show glimpses of promise but as I said I've not seen this from Harry. So do you think we should just start offering these youngsters pro contracts on £100-£200 a week willy nilly where they're going to offer the first team nothing and eat into the budget?

When we disagree about what he offered the team then there's part of the issue. If he'd had a one year deal then I would say that's a long way from offering deals willy nilly. It just seems to me that we're getting into the same old cycle with different personnel, a harsh judging of young players who don't hit the heights right away, alongside a tiny first team squad that would provide those players with development opportunities - albeit fewer of those still now the reserves are on ice. Keates has to come up pretty lucky to not be dipping into the loan market a fair bit, and our use of that in recent years is Exhibit A of both first team and youth development failings. People wring their hands about "how far we've fallen" over the slightest thing but people seem to miss the real evidence of how far we've fallen.

People saying we didn't see anything from Harry are correct. We didn't but by the same token it was difficult considering keates didn't give him much game time despite stating that the youth would get a chance. Many were saying that Jordan white would have looked better in a team that had a midfield. Same can be said for Harry.

It's a shame that he hasn't made it, however when I look at it properly it's the right decision. In the games I saw him play he seemed to offer less than Massanka who I wouldn't want to return next season either. It's ok people saying he would have been cheap, a couple of hundred quid a week etc but actually that couple of hundred quid a week could be the difference between being able to sign a quality player or not.
