I think Penn will end up with a player/coach job at somewhere like Kidderminster

That's quite a long way from York. I reckon somewhere like Guiseley, North Ferriby or York.

This is not blaming Keates at all, but we can't keep dangling the begging buckets every season to stand still or go backwards on the field.

So no pressure In Keates we Trust... Stable strong stable strong stable strong..
I seem to remember that soundbite "" In Mills we Trust " 😈

They can quite easily put a spin on anything and claim its not financial. What if the location issue was a case of penn wanting a relocation package (like Rhys Taylor did)? Both parties would be technically truthful in saying it's not a financial issue whilst at the same time the reason may be down to extra cost.

Default Re: Russell Penn leaving -great news

The great news here is that he went quickly. The worst scenario in the closed season is for players to mess you about, Pogba being the worst.

Penn would have been ok and it looks like Keates offered exactly the right amount of money, so that his head was turned, but we didn't sign a 2nd Div reject for too much.

Its utter utter garbage to say we can't compete financialy, how do the poorer clubs sign players? Keates, like any manager will try and sign the very best he can, but we may end up with the next best.

So what that means is we offered the right wages he just wanted a bit extra, which we felt he wasn't worth. Doesn't sound like we are struggling to compete.

I think this is a blow. I got the impression Keates was going to offer him the captain's armband and build a team around him.

He can now give it to Disley, who would be the better captain. Just needs to sign him first..
