Penn would have been ok and it looks like Keates offered exactly the right amount of money, so that his head was turned, but we didn't sign a 2nd Div reject for too much.

Its utter utter garbage to say we can't compete financialy, how do the poorer clubs sign players? Keates, like any manager will try and sign the very best he can, but we may end up with the next best.
Right on Congy

Yes the real John Neal is a legend. Obviously my post hit a nerve for a sarky reply.

Nobody knows. Nobody knows what was offered, nobody knows what his demands were. It may be financial but neither party wants to admit it for various reasons. I don't think it's a disaster but future signings will show how well keates is spending the budget. He seems to have come out of the failure to sign a target smelling of roses without anybody knowing the ins and outs.

Usually we sign local players - this side of Manchester/Liverpool for Northern based players or Birmingham for players south of Wrexham. Last few seasons under Mills this changed. In the last 2 seasons we signed 4 players from Welling and also last season Harvey from Plymouth and White from Livingston. Penn was York based so the cost of relocating would have been a factor to club/player. In the previous season we tried to sign Rhys Taylor and this was an issue in trying to sign him before moneybags Fylde signed him.Again if we start forking out to much in relocating players this could impact on the budget. I can't imagine White, Harvey, etc moving here without some relocation expense.

Guessing Keates has given Penn and Dunn today as the deadline. Penn will probably just be keeping his options open hoping he'll get something closer to home.

Personally not bothered, he looked good when first came probably because we were used to absolute garbage tbh. He then began to tail off, doesn't get about the pitch, loses the ball to much and gives so many fouls away for me personally. Him out and Disley in would be a good change.

Absolutely penny will drop some day

He brought him to the club and the player dosent want to sign again, wonder why

Maybe Keates man management isn't too good

Let's be honest Keates was sure he would sign, he hasn't and I'm not surprised.

Keates will prove to be not the man lots of people think he is.

But hey he

In Keates we trust

Why?
