Wait for Keates' explanation and who we sign instead. If it's a worse player than Penn then froth away.

Not bothered about Penn. He ain't that good, looked average for the majority and legs have gone.

Also a little concerned that we don't seem to be able to keep the players the manager wants to.
Thats the pattern now, lose most players in the summer, sell our best player in January and repeat. We'll always struggle as long as this continues.

What worries me is that Keates was in the Leader saying he was confident he would sign and it was a case of ironing out a few minor details. Why wasn't he able to sell the club to him?
Hopefully DK will have learnt something from this. It's difficult getting the balance right between being overly optimistic to resolutely dour. DK may have been a bit Tigger-ish, but I am sure he'll learn quickly, whilst also attracting better quality players.

Early doors yet.

Exactly!!!! I like what Keates has done and that is why I admire the fact he has a value of what he believes a player is worth and sticks to it. I did say he has a massive task in the summer, but in my opinion unlike his predecessor will have already put in a lot of groundwork on researching players and will know what he wants.

Agree we need to break that cycle. But DK has done the right thing, IMHO, by ridding the club of all the substandard players.

We should not underestimate the enormity of the task, especially when set against the fans' expectations.

We still have the rest of May, June, July and August. Not all retained lists are out yet either. I'm sure there are plenty of discussions behind closed doors going on. People have to realise we won't be the only club in for these players. It's down the club and management to sell Wrexham FC to them and then hope our wage and contract length is competitive with our competitors. I also think a lot rides on whether Tranmere go up or not. If they go up a lot more Norther based players come available. If they stay down then a lot of Northern based players will wait and see if they can get interest from Tranmere. I just don't get at this early stage why so many expect us to have made signings. Players will be on holiday, mulling over their options etc.

If he had played a bit better he could have demanded the extra cash he was no doubt looking for.

Over to Keates...
