Possibly he has been offered more elsewhere we will see. But every season we can't seem to attract the quality needed to this club. That's concerning unless were happy to stay non league.

More likely he has been offered something closer to his home in York, or a longer contract, or a combination of the two.

You're probably right, a lot of players would command a higher wage than the manager. This happens throughout football.

Are you suggesting Keates wouldn't pay anyone more than he earned, regardless of the quality of the player?

Exactly. If he had been offered a poor contract then why would he have even mentioned it? He could have just done the generic enjoyed my time here and thank the fans message.

Maybe but we can't keep players Keates actually wants is my point,so until I see is signings during this Summer I will withhold my ST application I'm not paying good money to watch the same rubbish as I have the last 3+ seasons, getting worse season after season.
This is not blaming Keates at all, but we can't keep dangling the begging buckets every season to stand still or go backwards on the field.

So no pressure In Keates we Trust... Stable strong stable strong stable strong..

Other posters have mentioned the possibility of DK offering contracts which could be considered as penny pinching and thus putting potential signings off. Hope it's not the case as you get what you pay for in this day & age. I am certainly not advocating chucking money at players and accept that Dean wants value for money.

I think Dean is very discerning and weighs everything up to the last detail so I feel he will get things right even though it will take more time than we supporters, desperate for news would like.

Club statement says it was about location, which is fair enough.

Russell Penn declines Wrexham AFC contract offer

What a shock, it's nothing Keates or the club have done. This is why we should wait for the facts.
