Dunn agrees to stay

There was good news today for manager Dean Keates, when goalkeeper Chris Dunn confirmed his acceptance of a new offer.

“I’m delighted that Chris will be back with us next season,” said the boss.

“He was outstanding for us during the last campaign and will a be a major asset going forward.

“Chris also contributed with coaching the younger keepers at the club, so they will continue to learn from him.

“His signature is a big plus for us and gives us a base on which to build.”

The 29-year-old arrived at the club last summer from Cambridge United and vied with Shwan Jalal for the starting position.

In total, he played in 19 league games, although a hip injury at North Ferriby in November, cost him a number of appearances.

His career has seen him play for Northampton Town, Coventry City, Yeovil Town and Cambridge United before arriving at the Racecourse, giving him over 200 games during his career.

This will probably get overlooked but imo he's the second best keeper we've had at this level after Maxwell.

Complete agree. Commanding and a good shot stopper. His only weakness is his kicking, but I don't care about that, as long he kicks it well away from his net.

Good keeper.

Happy with him being no.1 for next season (with someone younger, or short term loan if injuries as per Coddington) with focus on all the other areas.

That's good news. Always though he was better than Jallal.

How long has he signed for?

DK getting his training facilities, backroom staff sorted and now he can use his improved budget to put a new squad together. Hopefully, younger, leaner and hungry, players who share his work and winning mentality. Not just coming here for the money, but to be part of a squad challenging from promotion.

Good enough keeper at this level and the division above, if we can fill each out field position with this standard then we should look forward to a more productive 2017/18 season.

Absolute quality on his day. Some of the saves he made here were way above this level. He should be ashamed that he didn't knuckle down and play higher

The best shot stopper we've had down here, but his mistakes were far too frequent. Maxwell was consistent and let's be honest, when he came back in 2013 he'd clearly kicked on and was far better than Mayebi ever was.

Agree, during our 98 pt season, he was outstanding. Probably over the period here Maxwell came close, but Jos never conceded 7 in a home match. All history now, solid signing, but now the quality in the outfield positions is now the big thing for Keates to sort out. His first signings are going to give us a clue to that quality and the season which lies ahead.i

He seems pretty disciplined to me. Probably knuckles down more than most. If your face doesn't fit then it doesn't fit especially if managers don't want to pay anything for a second choice or identify weaknesses and address them through coaching/advice then you can't blame the player.

The best keeper we had at this level , you pck out a handful of errors , but compare those to the worldies he brought off , he was fantastic .
