So don't book the play off hotel based on one signing?

I would prefer to wait and see who else we get in before I decide to book a hotel for the play offs......

I am upbeat about our general chances. None of our other signings will be of this Calibre. Rutherford cannot believe his luck that a club like WAFC want him. As he left Deans office, I am sure he bought a lottery ticket on his way home!

He's a worker and it does give some continuity.

However if we really are to get go where we aspire I can't see him being a regular starter.

You're so condescending with every post I thought you were right on everything. Fact is just because our manager rates players doesn't mean we have to. Going on your theory we would ha e been fine last year as mills gave a contract to nortei, Bakare et al so they must be of sufficient quality. Fact is many of us have watched Rutherford fail to produce a bean for the majority of the season and believe that no matter what players he has around him he isn't going to suddenly start waltzing around full backs and putting in crosses that actually make the penalty area.

Many of us also agree with Mike.

I like Rutherford. While he has his limitations he's not anywhere as bad as some would have people believe. Bakare and Nortey were bad players, Rutherford in my opinion, is not. He offers the team something, works hard and generally seems to have a good attitude

Rutherford is a cracking little player. Works hard , closes down defenders, puts a foot in, chases lost causes, wants the ball, doesn't hide, runs the right channels, can pick players out. It's been a crap season and he's had sub standard players around him most of it. Pretty much everyone with half an idea about football can see he's worth keeping. You appear to be expecting a mix of Eden Hazard and Pele. Maybe you aren't right about him.

I wouldn't say he is a cracking little player, look at the clubs he has played for, never really been picked up by a decent club before now. However he is a tidy enough player to be a squad player. His end product is hit and miss, some decent crosses but more often than not looks like Bambi on ice when he has a clear site and goal. Can't fault his attitude or work ethic. Not one I was desperate to keep but not one I am calling the samaritans over because we have.

Many supporters do like Rutherford especially for his work rate - however could he be far more effective in a different position ? We just don't or wont play him out wide - this was commented on last season by BBC Radio Wales commentary teams - perhaps DK felt obsessed that we could only play a narrow diamond formation - perhaps next season with new personnel Rutherford can be played out wide as an alternative option to what we had to witness last season which was often bland, narrow and to be quite honest boring / not entertaining. When Allen came on as a second half sub in the televised match v Tranmere he almost changed the game on his own - we have lacked a wide man for some time, someone who can do something magical and change a game with flair and excitement - could that player be Rutherford if played out on the flank ?
