So true. Riley was brought in the from Mansfield to provide cover for the Beast if ever he got injured. Aptly the Beast did get injured and picked up a career ending injury at Ebbsfleet. Riley stepped into his place and not only replaced him, but improved and surpassed the performances of the Beast. He was our best player that season, and as Mansfield had pipped us to promotion, he took his chances to play league football and left us - can't blame him for having ambition. However, with hindsight he should have stayed with us, as he lost his place at Mansfield through injury and since then his career has been that of a bit part player, and he's dropped back into non-league, Cracking player, and a nice bloke by all accounts, but sadly his best days are behind him. He'll still do a decent job at Halifax, it's a shame his golden days weren't in a Wrexham shirt for more than one season

The fact that Riley is a right wing lunatic whose views are just this side of getting him sacked for whoever he's playing for doesn't change the fact that he's a good signing for Halifax. If they've got a brick outhouse alongside him they'll have no issues in that position.

Not saying I agree with him on everything but wanting strong action against terrorists is hardly right wing lunacy or a sackable offence! Anyway, off topic, he's a reasonable player but I'm confident we will sign better and we already have with Pearson.

He is generally a "hang em and flog em" paranoid ranter on a lot of things, saying so on a day like today is an easy win for someone like him and I dread to think what things he thinks but doesn't say. But I don't wish to dwell massively on that, he's one of many and I suspect we'll employ others.

Knows his job and does it well at this level more often than not. In my opinion, he would be a decent enough signing for anyone in this league and a potentially great one for a team coming up from the league below.

The difficulty is getting a full season out of him. I would also imagine he commands a hefty fee for a position you can usually bring in adequate standard fairly cheaply.
