All I remember was there was a big crowd, it was at night under the massive floodlights and their players were all massive compared to our players, not really tall just stocky as I remember.

I was hooked from then on

My all time favourite game Real Zaragoza, that game had everything apart from us going through. They still did not beat the mighty reds with 2 draws accross the two legs.

The kop was rammed that night, my rib cage ached for a week afterwards, when we scored the back of the kop went mental and I ended up about 20 foot from where I started, to a 15 year old this was as good as it got, football, mates, singing and jumping around like lunatics when we scored....happy memories.
The Zaragoza home game was mental, we hammered them and it was that big keeper Cedrun that kept them in the game.

The atmosphere was incredible when you think at that time we were a promotion chasing Fourth Division side and not some big giant.

Steve Massey's celebration in front of the paddock was unforgettable!

That Zaragoza home game was bonfire night wasn't it? My parents had a bonfire party and invited the neighbours. Only one place I was going though. Superb atmosphere and so unlucky not to pull it off in the end.

Being woken by old man coming in after night shift with morning papers after draw away at Zurich with result.

Being in line with Mel Sutton headed in against FC Zurich at kop end,
sure he was just inside 18 yard line.

oh hang on think he was on 18 yard line when he headed it.......

wasn't he just out side the 18 yard box

do you know what the more I think about it I'm sure he halfway between halfway line and 18 yard box

I remember the agony of the ball inching over the line in the home game vs the outrageous cheats of hajduk split.

Not as bad as the away leg when Eddie May was wrestled to the ground in the penalty box by 2 defenders and the Ref did nothing.
Always thought that he'd been a beneficiary of a brown envelope. Similarly with the Ref at the Roma away match.

I was in Lisbon a few weeks ago - taxi driver was a massive Benfica fan (they hate Porto) - I mentioned Wrexham and even he remembered us beating Porto - it was a massive shock

My favourite euro game even though we were knocked out on away goals, we threw the kitchen sink at them

I'm a bit too young for the 'classic' European games. Did go to Old Trafford in 91 (?) though, when we were actually seeded above Man Utd! Remember singing "we know a song that gets on (Les) Sealys f**king nerves" for what seemed like hours !

Also lucky enough to do Petrolul Ploesti away in 1995, unexpectedly one of the hottest games I've ever been to. Great memories from that trip ... expecting the hotel to be a s**thole, but it turning out to be one of the overthrown Presidents summer palaces and one of the nicest buildings I've ever stayed in.

Also spending the night drinking with a couple of our directors, Dave Lovett, Les Evans and two blokes from BBC Wales. Les getting pissed and moaning about how the BBC never bothered with us most times whilst he and Dave travelled everywhere. Then the look on Deryn Braces face as he came back from training injured, complete devastation, and Les getting even angrier that BBC would beat them to the story.

Game itself was nowt to right home about, but their Ultras were great fun, and our coach following the players coach back to the airport ... with Barry Hunter hanging out the skylight singing to hundreds of their fans who had lined the streets for us !

I remember us outplaying FC Zurich and Hadjuk Split at home. Seem to recall the late great Eddie May punching someone's lights out during the game. They were cheating rogues and we were robbed in Split by cheating and bent refereeing.
I have a programme from the Djurgarden FC away game in Sweden and a badge from Stal Rzezow somewhere in the attic. We beat them both before losing to Anderlecht (only just!)

The home leg against Hajduk Split has to be up there as one of the best nights ever at the racecourse. Standing in the middle of the Kop as part of a big crowd, nearly 20K if I remember correctly, watching Budgie on fire getting 2 goals and a great result. But I also remember feeling absolutely gutted when they sneaked their goal when we were 3-0 up and thinking that it would come back to haunt us, which sadly it did after some shocking decisions in the second leg.

Even though we went out on away goals after the second leg it doesn't diminish the pride I still feel from that first leg performance.
