It's a good point to be fair ,,

I would say Marx is far more deserving of a 3 year contract as he has shown potential !!

Not sure why people expect him to be warming the bench, he played plenty of games last season and looked as good as any more experienced centre half. Even when it was only 3 at the back with him covering the centre alone towards the end of the season, he still looked effective. I'd hope to see him starting quite often.

Same here he has bags of potential going forward if he can get game tie this coming season. Add in Darlingtons tutelage and working next to an experienced centre back the future is bright for him.

Well done Ollie, I totally agree with previous post, worth at least a two year deal , very impressed with his maturity over the last few games, good prospect and will get better with the recent signings we have made both on and off the field.

I was surprised it wasn't a 2 year deal, but we don't know the reasons, but I guess a longer deal will be available if Ollie carries on where he left off, last term and shows real desire to get a shirt.

I'd imagine that if he's confident in his own ability then a 1 year is the better option for him rather being tied down for 2 years on first year pro wages. If he can establish himself he'll be holding all the cards when it comes to negotiating a new contract.

Perhaps that's why it took so long to sign, maybe we wanted to tie him down for longer on a lower wage and his agent thought he'd be better off with a 1 year deal.
