Just going on the balance of probabilities.

It's more likely, in my opinion, that someone who has spent his professional career coaching and is head of coaching education at the FAW, who spends most of his time observing and analysing games from a tactical standpoint, may, just may have a better insight into the recent tactical developments in football than a newly qualified coach.

I get it that Keates played so will have a good understanding of tactics, but to dismiss the fact that he can't learn anything from Darlington, even though he said so much himself, just seems like arguing for the sake of it.

Although this thread has kind of gone off topic 😁

Thanks for clearing that up but it does explain why the aforementioned players are going down the 'Welsh' route.

Seems Mackreth could play wide in a front 3 and likewise Rutherford.
Holroyd could play as a number 9 in that formation but I would like to see another 2 strikers to bolster the ranks.

Ideally a number 9 so that Holroyd can really play alongside him in a front 2 and then we have options etc. with Mackreth/Rutherford as above and also say and up and coming striker we take a punt on from the lower leagues (the one at Tamworth for instance).
Or maybe DK will supplement with a loan like they one from Burnley.

We need two more strikers , we need a unit upfront and someone quick and clever. What we got so far wont take us upon their own. We need goals now keates has built a strong team. Not much of the jigsaw pieces left to show the full picture. I believe Keates will get us a couple of good ones.

We could do with the conference equivalent of a Heskey\Owen partnership

I would say a minimum of 2 strikers preferably quick and mobile, plus we need a few youth strikers coming through..

At our level most succesful teams have at least 2 strikers/attacking options from the bench.

Just said I truly believe not that I know - there is a difference. One is an opinion the other is a statement of fact.
