Yes.. i think 100% we need somebody who knows where the goal is.. and more importantly can actually put it there.

goals generally = points on the board.. we need lots of points next season if we are to consider ourselves serious of a promotion push.

had liverpool had a out n out striker who scored regular .. who knows.. they may of won the league..

So without a centre forward we might finish 4th. If we have one, like Chelsea, Spurs and City, we might finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Ridiculous.

No we dont we could play with 2 strikers out wide and another sitting deeper drawing the centre backs out of position.
It could work if the players have the formation drilled into them and anything is better than punting aimless balls up to a centre forward who is out muscled and out numbered.
Having said that we need an effective plan B , so we do need a big lad available. up front

Why does this centre forward need to be an archetypal big lad? Do we need a central striker? Yes. Of course we do.

I would also go a long way to say our central striker should be the highest paid player as goal scoring is such an important commodity in football.

Your Missing the point.

a striker banging the goals in.. alongside other players chipping in.. could be the difference between play offs or champions... or getting into the play offs or not.

I agree our main striker should be our highest earner. Everyone wants what we want; which makes good strikers so expensive to land/pay.

It also makes them the slowest to sign; unlike any other position they can afford to wait. It's obvious Keates uses timescales for contract offers. However from his last interview he's also going to be playing signing 'chicken', hoping good players wait too long and their other options dry up.
