During the war years Stanley Matthews turned out for a number of clubs including Manchester United, Crewe, Morton, Rangers, Arsenal and, the newly nicknamed, Robins.
We had changed our colours in 1939 to the familiar red and white although the nick name referred to our club secretary, a Mister Robinson.

Just after the war we played some games in Europe and visited the hell that was Belsan Concentration camp.

I don't know how many times he played for us but I think one of the games was against Crewe Alex.

I too would add Alan Fox to that list and the man is still around!
I agree on pretty much all the players mentioned although I am not too sure about Don Weston. I thought Sammy Mac was good value as well.

Don Weston in his first spell was as good as any, that's why he went to Leeds.

Not seen Mike Hooper mentioned a good keeper who went on to better things.

I was at the Hartlepool match 10-1. I'm sure that Wyn scored with a header directly from a Hartlepool goal kick in the first half kicking towards the Tech end. That may have been his last match for Wrexham. Ron Davies from Holywell was also a brilliant header of the ball. He used to train in lead boots. He famously scored four at Old Trafford for Southampton.

That's a bit unfair on Jordan, when , if at all, was he fully fit after his illness.
By his own admission he came back too early.

I would wholeheartedly agree with you. Both outstanding footballers. Probably we should add Les Speed. Don Weston went to Birmingham before joining Leeds. Leeds used him as a right winger and exploited his pace. I saw him play for them many times. He was a big favourite with the Leeds supporters.
