Does that mean that the Shropshire council are behind the funding? It can't be the Welsh Assembly and surely the Welsh FA wouldn't be funding a ground in England.

The whole ownership issue of the ground is going to cause a lot of issues.

If I was signing off cheques to redevelop the kop, I'd want to know what's going to happen in the future. In effect, they could be lining someone else's pockets.

I believe the clearing of the kop has and will put investors off. It could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds to do this. Maybe even a million. Who knows.

But once the kop is cleared it opens up possibilities.

Are we happy for public money to be used in such away?

Although they should of helped when we were in trouble Plymouth council bought their ground when they were in the shit.
The city council used to own Home Park stadium and they actually retained ownership of the land surrounding including the park that runs down to the station and leisure facilities.

By returning Home Park to council ownership it allowed a better use of the large car parks for city centre use.

It was a good move to bring Home Park back to public ownership.

At this time and with public services under pressure I can't see council investment in The racecourse being welcomed. The councils interim help in allowing use of the Nine Acre is a huge help and that came about, i assume, via an ex council senior officer who happened to be a director of the club.

It would be more use to the people of Wrexham than an airport 152 miles away!

I agree that the council using public services here would not be welcomed unless it was part of a major North Wales drive, linking entertainment & sporting events, tourism etc etc now that surely would be welcomed, yes the football club benefit of course we do but so would the wider community.

Shortly after the trust took over the club wasn't there a study done that showed that the fact there is a football club playing in the town brings in approx £2 million to the local economy. (I really remember reading this but cannot find a link to it)
Improving the Racecourse could result in larger attendances and therefore more money coming into the local economy which could justify spending public money.

I saw a random tweet the other day saying that the FAW should bid for the 2021 UEFA under 21 Euros. COuld provide the catalyst for a racecourse development.
