Its a conundrum for sure but one that I believe can only be resolved as the current board are doing. Meaning that we back DK for now in terms of the team. As has been correctly stated if we start winning then we will attract larger attendances and hopefully achieve the FL. That ,for me, would be the time to invest in building something meaningful. Even if we won the league I doubt there would be many sold out games in reality - 100% increase on last season's average would still be below our capacity. Clearly if in the meantime Tesco's / Mcdonalds came along and offered to take the whole site and develop a small stand as a gesture then of course that would be perfect.

Would fans be prepared to add £1 at each of the next 4 home games? That's £1 x 4 x 4,000 potentially = £16,000, with a possibility of a further £16,000 from match funding totalling £32,000. If it took twice as long and raised less, would it kill the idea?

If the project was to provide safe standing, how many fans would use it? (at a lower admission price than they currently pay for a seat.) Would that reduce the overall match receipts, or would it increase them because of extra fans attending?

What would YOU do? Would you pay less to stand, or watch from your current seat at current prices? And would you attend more home games if a cheaper standing ticket was available?

I think that until we are capable of selling 100% of our ground capacity for every game, we'd need the answers to these questions before being in a position to make a business plan for further grant funding.

I am pretty sure that the existing terraces on the kop, with the aid of spreader beams, could carry a temporary seating system, if required. In time, though we will need to do something with the kop if we are going improve My Racecourse and make the old girl the stadium that it will need to be going forward
I agree with this and would be a good short to medium term solution if we go up this season. We will certainly need more capacity then. One of Blackpool's main stands is a "temporary" one, as is Gillingham's away end, which is built over the top of an old terrace. They've been there years so not really temporary. https://goo.gl/images/ADaat2

Personally I'd love to be able to stand on the Kop again. Was the best stand for atmosphere.

As a season ticket holder I would never move from my seat on the half way line. However I would be happy to contribute to a fund to investigate the possibilities. The only concern I have is if you spread further a crowd of say 3800 I personally believe you will detract rather than add to the atmosphere. I believe both sides of the ground would be minimally impacted by a re-opened cop but the GUS would simply go down proportionally. A short term measure would be to remove the cover and have a safe open area for away supporters (stockport like)

Safe standing on the kop would be a waste of money...Even if we have a good season, we wouldn't need it. Be a novelty at first, but come the bad weather, most would retreat to the stands..

Who was it, that drew up the now notorious Carnegie stand for the kop.?. A 5.000 seater stand, that can transform into an all year round auditorium........

Get it in the business plan.....
