Default Player Numbers

It has been done with cricket for a good 10 years and sky do it for the Lions. I'm talking about the order in which said player has played for his team; be it Aussie or English cricket or the Lions.

For a club like us with 150 years of history, it would be a logistical nightmare and might take a historian a year to compile such a definitive list.

I'd imagine football with follow suit with this, if it hasn't already but I wonder if there's any desire for us to explore it?

The order in which players have played for the team. I suggest you don't watch other sports.

It's nothing more than pomp and pageantry, assigning each player a unique number based on the order in which they joined. Very much a pre/post season topic.

You're making it sound complicated but I know what you mean haha. Say Joe Root is the 738th player to play cricket for England, he would have "738" printed under the badge.
Not sure it's that desperate really, but it's an interesting idea, very difficult to work out though I'd imagine for us.

Whilst it may be difficult to go back to 1864, could be done since becoming a league club in 1921.

I've thought of this too, not sure it would catch on in football but from a marketing perspective in books or programmes it could be interesting.

How long before players go out with barcodes on their shirts
