He can when he's 1) Bought a decent striker 2) Got us promoted.

He's doing a fantabulous job so far.

Restoring the faith slowly.

Can't fault him at all, let's hope the fans don't turn on him if all doesn't go to plan early doors

Imagine the position the club would be in if he'd been appointed in 2015. Although then you would also have to imagine how many people would still be moaning that we hadn't appointed "a manager with a track record of success at this level", which is why it didn't happen.

He's done an outstanding job so far - I'd still think realistically we need 2 years to make a real promotion push - but every signing seems to make it more likely - for me - given what he inherited par for this season is 7th - anything better than that and he's had a really good season

Hopefully he can just get a bit of luck this season to demonstrate that he is on the right track.
Really? I don't think Keates took a risk at all. Managerial jobs are rare and coveted. That's why clubs get so many applications. There are plenty of out of work and want to be managers. Its the club who have taken the risk by appointing a novice and granting him a lengthy contact. So far the signs are good. There are bound to be bumps along the way but things do look rosier than for a while.

We have to remember that bonding a completely new squad can take time. I remember laughing at Mansfield a few seasons ago after they had a proper wobbly start after signing seemingly the best players available. This is a long term project remember. Some fans won't understand that though.

Mansfield, Luton, Bristol Rovers all started poorly in their promotion seasons.

Word of warning really, he's said and done all the right things but let's see if he can manage, as of yet we just don't know.

The fact Darlington is here is with him is such a massive, massive thing though. If the players buy into his methods then we are going to have a great season.
