It is possible to arrange a friendly against a big team too (for those on here with short selective memories), we used to play Liverpool on a regular basis not that long ago and they don't get much bigger than that.

Obviously I've heard of teams from Portugal, but my knowledge of the Portuguese league is totally irrelevant.

Never mind, was just pointing out that its a shame to go over there to play a minnow team that no one will have heard of and would have been nice to play a bigger club. Thats all.

I realise I've broken that binding WST contract "though shall not question anything" and I apologise profusely for my audacity.

Nobody is saying it can't be done. The question is where would we play them? Nine Acres? Anfield? The example of Benfica against FCUM. That was the official opening of their new stadium, the Benfica side was Youth and B team. FCUM picked up the expenses.
We could play a Porto XI. But we would have to guarantee a full house because of the expense involved.

Tranmere play Liverpool or Everton nearly every year before they go on their American/Chinese or wherever tours. The benefit of being next door I guess, not really any club close enough for us, its only 4/5 miles for them
