Re: Neil Ashton
He'll always go down as a legend to me, for his performance against Stockport away on a Tuesday night. Abuse from local fans resulted in a yellow card when he re-acted. He then took a penalty to silence them and was further booked having being pulled into the Wrexham crowd celebrating. With fans shouting Neil Ashton is a red, is red is a red. Neil Ashton is a red he hates Chester.

Re: Neil Ashton
The Southport administrators released him.Their manager was, also released, at a time when the Club supporters were protesting about their relegation, wanting a change of ownership. I saw Neil play several times for Southport, including their game against Gateshead, when he was facing his former Wrexham colleague Wes York. Neil was outstanding on that occasion and his legs certainly did not let him down. Neil was not only a good player, he was a gentleman. My wife suffered from cancer and he went out of his way to send her a Get Well Card. He liked the Wrexham area and I would imagine that was a key factor in him joining Cefn Druids.
