I accept it was only Lex but have to say I was very impressed with a few of the new signings.

Pearson in one outstanding signing. Really can't believe he's here.

I've heard a few people moan about hurst but I think sitting in there with wedgebury he will be invaluable.
As for wedgebury he just makes football look easy. Finally a midfield general.

Thought holroyd was very creative and will be a big player but for me the man head and shoulders above anyone on that pitch was
Marcus Kelly. Absolute class.

Few of the youngsters (especially freeman) did very well and thought the striker on trial also (bar a few poor shots) has something
To offer. Definitely worth another look.

So refreshing to see "men" and footballers at the club.

Well done deano

Pearson,Wedgebury,Kelly,Mackreth, Rutherford, Manny all showed up well.

Goes without saying how desperate we are for 2 more strikers

Well what did we learn tonight ?
Pearson will be a cultured rock in defence - never stops talking and reading of the game is excellent - doesn't dive in and over commit himself as Marx did for their goal.
Manny Smith will surely partner him and between them the spine is complete.
Weakness is still right back position.
Midfield has landed - Wedgebury bossed the middle and looked very solid, Kelly and Jennings combined up the left flank first half very well, Hurst looked to add some height and strength second half.
Macreth was a revalation down the right flank, very fast and will excite supporters - we look like we have captured a proper wide man who will deliver.
Strikeforce - though Holroyd was industrious first 45 but overall a big gaping hole down the middle for a quality goalscorer - perhaps we will improve on Friday when players get tuned in - some looked a bit ring rusty.
The grass on tonight's pitch was very long tonight - slowed the ball down and might have been a deliberate ploy by Lex in an attempt to 'level the teams and stop Wrexham playing - however it could also be a bit of compensation against injury as the pitch was generally dry and hard.
So in conclusion first half Wedgebury second half Macreth for me.

Leo Smith looked a class act. Scored an absolute corker as well!! He was the best player on the pitch in the second half!!

Yes in fairness Leo Smith did well, that goal went into the top corner of the net like a rocket !

Can't help thinking we should surely have scored a whole host more than 3.

My MOTM was Marcus Kelly. He reminded me of Keates when he first signed. Controlled the game. Wedgebury also played well. He doesn't stop running. I personally thought Mackreth played well down the right with Carrington. They were constantly linking together and causing trouble. As for Gime. His first touch is fantastic and he is able to bring the ball down. But his decision making after that isn't great. If Keates, Davies and Darlington can coach the lad he could be a very good player. Leo Smith has a good game and looked very sharp. Pearson and Manny Smith looked solid as would be expected. Rutherford ran his socks off and was a constant threat down the right. Holroyd was also very energetic. I'm really looking forward to this season. On a better pitch those lads will boss it. The pitch slowed it down. It was long.
