Default Druids v Wrexham matchday programme

Cefn Druids have produced a 36 page programme for tonight's game. Excellent value at £2.50 each. Don't miss it!

Default Re: Druids v Wrexham matchday programme

Very little information out there about this fixture - nothing on our official site and no information for supporters, so :

Pre season friendly, tonight, Friday 7 July (away)

Kick off 7.45 pm (according to the Cefn Druids official site)

The Rock has been home to Cefn Druids since 2010 after moving from its previous Plaskynaston home which became a supermarket as part of the stadium deal.

How to find us:

Cefn Druids AFC
The Rock
Rock Road
Rhosymedre
Wrexham
LL14 3YF

Tel: 01978 810287

Directions:

From the A483:

Leave at Junction 1, signposted Whitchurch/Llangollen. Take the exit towards Ruabon/Llangollen (taking the third exit off the roundabout and going straight on at the next from the southbound carriageway – taking the first exit off the roundabout from the northbound carriageway) Ruabon/Llangollen and keep in the left lane.

Take the first exit on the roundabout on to the B5605 for 1.1 mile and turn right on to High Street. Take an immediate right turn on to Chapel Street and turn right at the end of the road.

The entrance to the Rock is approximately 50 yards on the left, opposite the cemetery.

From Llangollen/A5:

On reaching Llangollen join the A539 and turn right on to Mill Street. After 4.4 miles turn right on to King Street/B5096.
Follow B5096 round on to Crane Street and Well Street before going across the Tesco roundabout. Take the first left on to Rock Road and the stadium entrance is approxiamately 200 yards on the left, opposite the cemetery.

By rail:

The nearest station is Ruabon, approximately two miles away.
To walk to the stadium from the station, turn right at the end of the station’s approach road and cross straight over the roundabout and follow the A483 directions from the B5605. A separate pedestrian entrance is accessible opposite Church Street.
Alternatively, frequent buses – Arriva services 2 and 2A to Oswestry – run from Francis Court, opposite the station approach road, to Chapel Street

If anyone has any information on admission prices to the stadium please add them to this thread.

Car parking as I understand will be rather limited - again any help or advice that can be posted on here to help fellow fans, (especially out of towners) put it up in lights here.

There's now an article on the official site but no practical information that I could see - not even kick off time. So just to repeat Red Light's post if anyone can advise on parking and admission prices please do. Thanks.

I'd park in the old Kwiks/Co-op car park which is on the left near to the right turn which takes you to the Rock. Tesco is also only a short walk away and usually has tons of spaces. Relatively confident that they don't have any parking cameras in place there too.

Default Re: Druids v Wrexham matchday programme

Pre season matches are like buses, you wait ages for the new campaign to come along and then two come at once. Following our opener at Lex on Monday, we return to action tonight as we face Cefn Druids.

We've ran out just once so far this summer with Dean Keates’ newly assembled side getting off to a winning start. At Stansty Park the Dragons came out comfortable winners with goals from Paul Rutherford, Niall Freeman and a great effort from Leo Smith. We played two different XI’s meaning almost every player was given 45 minutes to begin the summer with a good mix of senior and youth team players.

For the Ancients this is the first game of their own pre-season campaign ahead of then 2017/18 Welsh Premier League Season.

Wrexham’s latest new signing Scott Boden will be available to play having recently made the switch from Scottish side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The forward is no stranger to the National League and could be a real asset to Keates next season. The Sheffield-born forward has signed a one year deal and will want to hit the ground running to earn a place in the starting line-up come August 5th, another new but familiar face tonight will be Ntumba Massanka who has joined on loan from Burnley once again.

As for Druids, a very familiar face will be in the side after joining the club on Monday. Former Dragons left-back Neil Ashton will be a regular at the Rock next term having joined from Southport. Ashton was a vital part of the side that finished on 98 points in the 2011/12 season as well as reaching Wembley with the club on three occasions, playing twice.

We've met on a number of occasions since the 1870’s and have been lucky to use each other’s facilities. Druids have appeared at the Racecourse over the years in cup finals whilst Wrexham have used the Rock, an excellent facility, to train and play pre-season matches whilst unable to play at the Cae Ras. Our most significant fixture against each other came all the way back in 1878, where we competed in the first ever Welsh Cup Final which the Reds came out on top in to take the honours.

Dean Keates has no injuries to deal with heading into the match.

Can't make it to the Rock? You can keep right up to date with the media team’s coverage, with kick by kick commentary completely FREE throughout pre-season, you can find us for friendlies on Mixlr.
