You can't blame people - late arrivals were vying for a better vantage point to watch the match as the pitch side perimeter fence was pretty much taken up along four sides of the ground.
Perhaps prevention is better than cure - cliff face and bank should have been properly fenced off when the stadium was acquired - Tesco's assisted in the stadium costs. There were young fans sitting on ledges up the rock face - in the event of a fall the game could have ended up being stopped. Probably not an issue for one of their standard league games but wasn't last night their record attendance ? Would like to know a bit more about the history of the stadium venue - can't find much after a few searches. Presume it was once a sandstone quarry but when did it operate ? |
