To be fair who knows what his reasons are and why his career tailed off. A lot are putting two and two together. I certainly wish him all the best going forward whatever that may be

Let's not cry what a waste of talent. There is a reason why he never progressed.
Take away his pace and he would be pretty average, he certainly wasn't the best defensively..

It is a real shame that his career is over, because he could have had something more if he'd stayed with us... can't blame him but hindsight is 20/20

Spot on. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Cant blame him for taking his opportunity when it came. When he went to Fleetwood and others and his form dropped dramatically that's what surprised me. His best football was here at least we got to see it and made a few bob too

Always thought Obeng's best work was done in the opponents half. I am surprised he was not tried in more attacking positions. In the games I saw him he often looked sharp around the opposition's penalty area.

I don't think [Removed User] is being patronising to 'fellow fans' just stating the difficulty of predicting potential, something which applies to any field of activity. Whether someone succeeds or fails depends on so many factors, confidence, the support of a mentor who believes in you, determination to put right mistakes and succeed. We've all experienced some or all of these factors in our lives. Wrexham fc have had many players who fans thought wrongly were destined for stardom at a higher level, Jonathan Cross, Gareth Owen, Mark Jones, Mark McGregor all spring to mind . Ditto the other way round with Carlos, Neil Taylor and Jon Walters. It's a question of being humble in judgement, not coming out too easily with 'xx is crap and will never make a footballer'. Who was it said 'Fred Astaire can't act, can't dance and can't sing?'
