Though wedgebury was really good today, agree we need another front man & a RB!

And at the back. If you read the reviews of every friendly there is an underlying theme amongst the more discerning posters that things are just a little untidy at the back. Not much , but given the opposition we have been playing it's a little concerning. It could be because we are yet to play Smith and Pearson in tandem.

Agree with Owain94
All goal kicks were aimed for Tourre's head - he got up well enough to most of them. Boden I believe, hasn't had much game time in recent times but you get the impression he's a cunning intelligent 'young' experienced fox and has the build and stature to soon gain sharpness - some players will need building up from 45 minutes to 90 step by step - maybe at Warrington on Tuesday night we will see a reversal with those who were subs today starting for the first 60 minutes.
It's still early days and perhaps the Portugal trip and travelling had some bearing today - we need to work on burying the ball in the net to reflect our possession and approach play - need to hit the target much more than we are doing - Stafford had a couple of shots last 10 minutes and were n't far off with a cross shot - it would have been a travesty if they had snatched an underserved draw - teams in the National League wont be so charitable. Kill them off whilst we have the chance.

despite the excitement of gimie i don't think he is the answer.

not sure how much we have in the budget for another forward or who we could go for

cook scored 2 for tramps whilst winning a penalty to help alabi to a hat trick

Most areas of the team appear to be shaping up well; but I am a little concerned about our attack.

Boden looks like our only real goal scorer; but even there it's not a given.

Holroyd is a worker but he's never been a natural striker.

Toure (if he signs) is raw; as is Massanka.

Hopefully we'vd got the cash to bring another decent striker in.

A right-back would be nice too; but it seems they're as rare as rocking-horse shit.

I think Toure played better than Massanka. Leo Smith i thought was a bit greedy at times but i was impressed with his play and distribution. McKreath was excellent. Pearson struggled at times with their fat stiker in the second half who reminded me of Rhead !!

We should of been 5 up at haftime but a win is a win and we can't dwell on friendly results, August the 5th is where we start.

More concerned about Dibble, not impressed with communication or kicking.

Re: formations, what I would say is that I'm pretty sure our opening day XI picks itself, and could move from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 without needing to change any personnel (Kelly wide in a 4-4-2, Mackreth further forward in a 4-3-3). If Keates goes for another forward as well as Toure this could change things more towards 4-4-2, but I don't see it.
