So now we have a regular back 4 of -

Roberts (promotion with Cambridge), Pearson (promotion with Grimsby), Manny (we know all about him already!), Jennings (promotion with Mansfield).

That's some defence at this level!

Not forgetting Roberts promotion with Halifax last season.

Halifax took Martin Riley - we get Roberts (sounds similar to Manny - family reasons and wanting / needing to be closer to his family home which I'm guessing is Merseyside based).

We have not had a proper right back for years - loanees and unsuitable infills - a two year contract too is good news.

Smith 28 years old 6ft 2
Jennings 29 years old 5ft 10

Good ages and sizes (heights are from Wikipedia Pearson looks bigger than that to me)

Arguably the strongest defence in the league , i feel we have a genuine chance this season

This is in case we can't sign any more strikers. We only need to score one goal a game as we won't concede any.

Very good defence on paper. Still think we are a little short in attacking options but still time to out that right and I believe we will shortly ,,

If the season started this Saturday I would be pretty happy with the squad we've already got, defence picks itself but a starting line up of

GK: Dunne

Defence: Roberts, Smith, Pearson, Jennings,

Midfield: Mackreth, Wedgebury, Wright, Kelly,

Forwards: Bodin, Holroyd,

Subs: Carrington, Hurst, Masanka, Rutherford, Dibble

wouldn't be to shabby.

Looking good on paper. How long will we take to gel as a team, and we start seeing the best of them ?
