For what it's worth, I agree with your second paragraph.

Also, I'd imagine there's no great desire from the council because it's not actually on their land.
This purely depends if you look at it from a football perspective or a north wales tourist & Wrexham economic perspective.

We don't sell out so no there is not a need although facilities in 2 out of 3 stands are not great.

Attracting a museum, concerts, international football and rugby to multi purpose arena in the North then there is a need.

Swansea were in the 3rd tier being relegated to the 4th when they did theirs.

On that basis, the Council should purchase the ground and the former Dickens' garage site.

At present, why would the council get involved with a site they don't own?

Agree and yes not an easy one with the nightmare of the ownership of different bits of land. They would of course have to deal with the ownership somewhere but where there is a will...

Not saying it would be easy by any stretch.

For the exact reasons mentioned by WXM76. With the right development deal, any money spent on purchasing land would be paid back many times over.

No they haven't, the Welsh Assembly only have the Senedd in Cardiff Bay, the Welsh Government have offices in Junction, there is a distinct and subtle difference

People on Wrecsam need to be involved in this through their councillor and through responding to the consultation, the Racecourse should be central to the development of the town centre..... but is it even mentioned in the LDP...................

Its sickening that the blokes who screwed us over own the land that is needed for progression. They did us no favours before and I will do us no favours in the future.

Wrexham Local Development Plan 2 (LDP2) 2013 to 2028 - WCBC
13 April 2017

Racecourse Ground and the WCBC WREXHAM LDP2 (2013 - 2028)

I cannot at present confirm dates at which the Deposit Plan will be in the public domain, the preparation of the plan is work in progress and with imminent elections there is a risk this may also delay its release. We hope to have a clearer picture on the timelines for release in the summer after the elections.

However, I can confirm that the entire plan, not specific policies, will be subject to approval by Planning Committee, Executive Board and Full Council to authorise its release for public consultation, the document will be in the public domain at these stages though public comment can only be made after full Council when the document is published for comment.

It is true that the Inspectors recommendation to withdraw the original LDP 1 made no reference to the specific policy protecting the Racecourse but the examination had not progressed to the point where such policies were scrutinised. The withdrawal came after consideration of the plan strategy. The Inspector raised such fundamental criticisms of the plan and strategy that nothing contained within LDP 1 can be relied upon for inclusion in LDP2, starting afresh the plan will be very different from the original plan.

This does not mean everything from the plan will be discarded, we are aware of the pressure for a protective Racecourse policy and in due course the need for such a policy will be considered for inclusion.

Kind Regards

Chris Smith
