I think most of these answers miss the question asked - it's signings you believe were bad from day 1 not in hindsight. The likes of Hope were obviously crap but he was considered quite a coup at the time.

I remeber a couple years back a interview in the leader maybe? Someone tracked him Down and informed him of his legendary status here. I seem to remember he was a little baffled by it. I think he was working in the U.S
